Newton: Security vs. total surveilance

Modern technology should make our lives safer. Automated access control systems, facial scans and pattern recognition on mobile devices. But technology does not only improve security. It also enables total surveilance - in the name of security. Is it possible to achieve total security? And if so, which price do we have to pay? Are we becoming increasingly transparent citizens? And where will we draw the line between our need for security and the right to privacy and personal freedom?
